As spring unfolds, we begin to see signs of life emerging. Buds appear. Leaves begin to form. What once seemed dormant now shows evidence of growth.
However, growth does not sustain itself. It must be nurtured so it can endure through this and future seasons.
Scripture reminds us:
“Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin.” Zechariah 4:10 (NLT)
Jesus said: “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed… which indeed is the least of all the seeds; but when it is grown it is greater than the herbs and becomes a tree…” Matthew 13:31–32 (NKJV).
There's something unique about the seed...we will get into that later in the series.
What God starts may look small at first, but it has the potential to become much greater when nurtured.
I have learned that it is possible to recognize growth and still fail to care for it. When we become distracted or inconsistent, we risk weakening what God is developing in us.
Growth requires care, consistency, and intentionality.
What we feed grows.
What we neglect weakens.
Purposeful living means paying attention to what is growing in your life right now. It may be a deeper desire to pray, a new discipline forming, a calling becoming clearer, or a step of obedience you have begun to take. It may also appear in your work through innovative ideas, skill development, leadership growth, or emerging career goals.
Whatever it is, it requires intentional nurturing.
I have come to realize that when God allows something to begin in our lives, whether spiritual or practical, it requires intentional care.
This week, pause and reflect:
What has God started in your life?
Are you nurturing it, or overlooking it?
Growth is not automatic. It is cultivated.
As you continue this journey of purposeful living, remember that what God begins in you is worth tending. With consistency and care, what is small today can grow into something far greater than you imagined. @DrEuvic1
