April Week 4: When Your Light Is Tested, How Do You Respond?

Last week, we reflected on a simple but important question:
Is your life shining or blending in?
This week, we take it a step further.
When your light is tested, how do you respond?
Because the truth is, life does not always create the perfect conditions for us to shine. There are moments when we are tired, under pressure, or stretched beyond our limits.
I experienced this personally this week after a night of very little sleep. That lack of rest affected how I showed up, responded and engaged with others.
In that moment, I realized something significant- shining your light requires awareness before intentionality.
Not just when things are going well, but especially when they are not.
Scripture reminds us:
“Let your light shine before others…” — Matthew 5:16
Living this out means making intentional choices in real time:
Pausing before responding
Choosing your words carefully
Recognizing when you are not at your best
Resetting and responding differently
It also means giving yourself grace while still taking responsibility.
Shining your light is not about getting it perfect.
It is about being aware, adjusting, and choosing to reflect your values, even under pressure.
Pause and Reflect
As you move through this week, take a moment to reflect:
How do I respond when my light is tested?
What situations challenge my ability to shine?
What intentional step can I take to reflect light more consistently?
Purposeful living means showing up daily, aware, intentional, and aligned with your faith.
Because even in imperfect moments, your light can still shine.
