Faithfulness in Time and Habits

Faithfulness is often revealed in how we steward our time. While we may desire spiritual growth, our daily habits shape what we become. Time is one of the most precious gifts God has entrusted to us, and how we use it reflects what we value most.

Scripture reminds us to live intentionally:

Be very careful, then, how you live, not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity.” Ephesians 5:1516 (NIV)

In our world filled with distractions, it is easy to allow urgency, what my husband often calls "the cares of this world", to replace intention. Time once set aside for prayer, reflection, or rest can gradually be filled with constant activity, scrolling through phones or social media, or even overindulgence in work or other tasks.

These shifts often happen quietly, without notice.

Faithfulness in time does not mean filling every moment with activity. It means choosing habits that keep us connected to God. Small, consistent practices such as setting aside time for Scripture, limiting distractions, working efficiently, and creating space for rest help align our days with God’s purpose.

As we continue this February journey of faithfulness, may we reflect on how our habits support our spiritual growth. Faithful stewardship of time creates room for God to work in and through us.

As you look at your daily routines, where might God be inviting you to steward your time more intentionally to support your spiritual growth?
