July Week 2: Trusting God's Perfecting Work

As we continue our July journey on Embracing God's Perfecting Work in Our Lives, we are reminded that God's work is not limited to changing our circumstances. Often, He is preparing us before He expands our opportunities.

Last week, we reflected on finding fullness in God's presence. We discovered that while accomplishments and milestones are meaningful gifts, lasting fulfillment begins with a relationship with God. It is through His presence that we receive the wisdom, strength, and direction to live purposefully and pursue excellence.

This week, we turn our attention to trusting God's perfecting work.

Most of us celebrate beginnings and endings. We enjoy new opportunities, answered prayers, and completed goals. The challenge is often the middle, the seasons when progress seems slow, prayers remain unanswered, and God's plan is not yet fully visible.

Yet those seasons are not wasted.

While we often ask God to change our circumstances, He is also shaping our character. His perfecting work prepares us to faithfully steward the gifts, opportunities, responsibilities, and influence He entrusts to us.

Joseph's life illustrates this beautifully.

God gave him a dream, but it was not fulfilled for years. Betrayal, slavery, false accusations, and imprisonment were not signs that God had forgotten him. They were part of God's preparation. During those difficult years, God was developing the wisdom, humility, perseverance, and leadership Joseph would need to fulfill his calling.

The same is often true in our lives.

Perhaps you are waiting for a prayer to be answered, a door to open, or a dream to become reality. What feels like a delay is preparation. God is often doing His greatest work within us before He works through us.

As Psalm 138:8 reminds us:

"The LORD will perfect that which concerns me."

God's perfecting work is not simply about completing a task; it is about preparing us to fulfill His purpose wherever He has placed us faithfully.

Pause and Reflect

  • What area of my life currently feels unfinished?

  • What might God be developing in me during this season?

  • Am I faithfully stewarding the opportunities God has already entrusted to me?

  • How can I trust God's process more intentionally this week?

The Word of God reminds us:

"Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ." (Philippians 1:6, NKJV)

Sometimes God's greatest work is not what He is changing around us, but what He is developing within us.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for Your faithfulness and for the promise that You will complete the good work You have begun in me. Help me trust Your perfecting work, even when I cannot yet see the finished picture. Develop within me the wisdom, character, and perseverance to faithfully steward every opportunity You have entrusted to me. As I spend time in Your presence, strengthen me to pursue excellence, serve others with humility, and lead with purpose wherever You have placed me.

In Jesus' name, Amen.
