Week 2- Grace even in disappointment- Plant on a clean table

Last week, we reflected on what it means to walk intentionally in the new life. This week, we pause and reflect on something many of us quietly carry through the journey:

Disappointment.

Delay.

And the need for grace to continue forward.

As the year unfolds, many of us are taking inventory of where we are compared to where we hoped to be. Some prayers have been answered. Some doors have opened. Others have not unfolded the way we expected.

This became very personal for me this week. There was something deeply meaningful that I had been praying for, planning for, and hoping for this season. Every step along the way seemed to point toward the possibility that it would happen. And then came the unexpected disappointment.

It was painful because it carried the weight of hope, preparation, and expectation. For a moment, I had to sit with the reality that even good desires and carefully laid plans do not always unfold the way we envision. But in the middle of that disappointment, one truth remained steady:

God is still faithful.

Sometimes grace carries us through open doors. Other times, grace carries us through the closed ones.

And perhaps one of the hardest parts of faith is accepting that God’s answers do not always come in the form we desire.

Sometimes the answer is "yes."

Sometimes it is "wait."

And sometimes it is "no."

But even then, His grace remains sufficient.

Scripture reminds us:

2 Corinthians 12:9- “My grace is sufficient for you…”

And again:

Lamentations 3:22-23 - “His compassions never fail. They are new every morning…”

This week reminded me that grace is not just for successful moments.

Grace is also what sustains us through disappointment, recalibration, and continued trust.

Sometimes we need to pause and reevaluate:

  • Where are we now?

  • What adjustments are needed?

  • Are we still trusting God when the outcome looks different?

Because purposeful living is not about everything going according to plan.

It is about continuing the journey with faith, humility, and dependence on God’s grace.

Pause and Reflect

As you continue through this season, take a moment to reflect:

  • What disappointment or delay am I still carrying?

  • Where is God inviting me to trust Him more deeply?

  • What areas of my life need recalibration?

Grace not only sustains us through answered prayers, but also through unanswerable prayers.

It also carries us through disappointment, delay, and redirection.

And even in difficult moments, God remains faithful.
