Finish well text on sunrise image

As we end our July journey on the theme Embracing God's Perfecting Work in Our Lives (the symbolism of the number 7), we arrive at one last reminder: God is not only interested in how we begin; He desires that we finish well.

This month, we have reflected on fullness in God's presence, trusting His perfecting work during seasons of preparation, and walking faithfully in His purpose even when the next step isn't clear. From every lesson, one thing has stood out: God is always molding us as we steward the opportunities He puts before us with integrity.

Starting well is often easier than finishing well.

Many of us begin new projects, new careers, ministries, or relationships with great hopes and excitement. But along the way, discouragement, delays, disappointments, and unexpected changes and detours make faithfulness more challenging than taking the first step.

Are you feeling tired or discouraged today? Don't give up. Keep holding on to the purpose God has given you. As long as you are walking in His will, God is not finished with you yet.

Scripture reminds us:

"Let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart." Galatians 6:9 (NKJV)

Over the years, I've learned that God's greatest blessings have not always come in quick decisions or actions, or in trying to force things to happen in my own timing. Often, they come after seasons of faithfully serving where He has placed me, even if I didn't fully understand His plan. I've also come to realize that excellence is not just the result of my own abilities or determination. As we surrender our work to God, our Creator, the Holy Spirit empowers us with wisdom, strength, integrity, and a spirit of excellence to carry out every assignment He entrusts to us. Excellence, then, is not perfection; it is doing our best for the sake of our faith in God in every assignment, whether it's in public or unseen, big or small.

As we come to the end of this month,

God calls us to remain faithful throughout the journey- He is not finished with us yet.

May we continue seeking God's presence, trusting His process and walking faithfully in His purpose, knowing that the God who started a good work in us will be faithful to complete it.

🌿 Pause and Reflect

  • What duties has God given me today? Am I doing the right thing and fulfilling the responsibilities God has entrusted to me today?

  • Where have I witnessed God's perfecting work in my life this month?

  • How can I do better at finishing my current assignments with faithfulness and excellence?

Since we are completing the 7th month, the number that symbolizes completeness, we will fall back on the Word of God in Philippians 1:6 (NKJV), which reminds us:

"Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ."

If you have to finish well, then it will take faith in God! That means remaining faithful while trusting God to complete the work He has begun.

🌿Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your faithfulness in every season of life and in this 7th month. As I try to remain faithful in every assignment You have given me, teach me to pursue excellence, persevere through challenges, and trust that You are still working in me even when I cannot see the full picture. May my life reflect Your character and bring glory to You as I walk with You towards the truth and live my life following Your purpose. In Jesus' name, Amen.

🌿 To Go Deeper:

To go deeper in this journey, I invite you to reflect on the lessons from this month's Purposeful Living series and consider how God has been shaping your character through everyday faithfulness.

Remember:

God's presence sustains us.

His process prepares us.

His purpose directs us.

His faithfulness enables us to finish well.
